PROCESS
When you contact Lilyvilla Gardens we set an appointment to meet you on site to discuss your project. You will then receive a design questionnaire to complete prior to our meeting.
INITIAL SITE MEETING
We meet one another on site to introduce ourselves, review samples of previous work and to discuss and determine the scope of your project.
SITE ANALYSIS
We conduct a Site Analysis and measure the site to create a base map.
CONCEPTUAL DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
Conceptual development can be a lengthy part of the design process as it is variable depending on the level of detail involved in your project. Several conceptual sketches are developed that illustrate locations, sizes and shapes of paths, decks, patios, garden beds and other elements. Conceptual sketches are the bones of the design. Upon presentation you are asked to choose your favorite concept. Often clients want to include elements from several concepts which require further revisions and refinements of the original conceptual sketch. When you have chosen a concept the designer refines and completes a drawing for a landscape contractor so they can create a bid proposal for the installation of the project.
CONTRACTOR REFERRALS AND BIDDING PROCESS
Lilyvilla Gardens can refer you to landscape contractors. The designer and contractor will meet with you on site to ‘walk through’ the project to help the contractor gather necessary information to prepare your bid. After this meeting the contractor will prepare a bid and present it to you. When you have signed a contract with your favorite contractor you and the designer will begin to develop the planting plan for your garden. On some projects a plan of planting intent is completed before you receive your bid.
PLANTING PLAN DEVELOPMENT
A rough planting plan is developed that illustrates locations and quantities of intended plantings.
INSTALLATION
While the contractor installs your garden, the designer makes site visits and is available for consultation.
PLANT PROCUREMENT
The designer can locate, purchase and/or arrange to deliver plants for the garden prior or the day of plant placement.
PLANT PLACEMENT
The designer places all plants in their exact locations before the planting.
PLANTING THE GARDEN
The landscape contractor or you plant the garden.
PLANTING PLAN
A final draft of your planting plan is completed.
GARDEN EDITING AND GARDEN CONSULTATION
The designer makes site visits upon request to consult with client on plant maintenance, editing plant combinations and general garden questions and answers.
The process of designing and building custom gardens varies from project to project. The exact steps in your design may not include all of the above steps or may include extra steps which are stated in your chosen proposal.
