LILYVILLA GARDEN

Design program: create a pan-asian/tropical refuge for gardening, relaxing and entertaining.

Large almost imposing Musa basjoo (chinese banana) line the entry of the garden. These plants compress the space and guide the eye to the gravel terrace ahead. The simple lines of the gravel terrace and limited plant palate creates visual and physical pause which allows other views into the garden. Two pathways lead to additional seating areas. A steel hut/bench takes advantage of the late afternoon sun which backlights large textural plantings. A large paved terrace connects the homes’ dining room to the garden creating a seamless flow for entertaining and dining outdoors. Lilyvilla garden is a laboratory for designs as well as a personal space for gardening, relaxing and entertaining.
